Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is there anything I need to do in order to get my placenta from the hospital/birth center.
A: Ensure that your Doctor, Midwife, nurses, and place of birth are aware of your plans to encapsulate. Please contact your hospital beforehand as they will require a Placenta Release Form.
Q: How do I hire you for placenta services?
A: Contact me via Facebook, Email, Contact form, or Phone. We will discuss your desired services, health concerns, and any other questions you may have. I have 3 online forms for you to fill out (can be done during your free prenatal intake meeting). These do not take long to fill out at all.
Q: Do I need to purchase a cooler?
A: You can if you prefer it, or I will give you a single use cooler / placenta collection kit for you to keep by your 36th to 38th week of pregnancy this includes 2 ziplock baggies labeled with your name and contact info. Depending on the hospital they may use those ziplocks for ice, instead of the placenta. Some hospitals prefer to place the placenta into a biohazard bag, and then into a plastic container with a sticker including your personal information.
Q: When should my placenta be packed and ready for pick up/drop off?
A: Your placenta needs to be on ice or in the fridge or freezer preferentially 2 hours after the birth took place.
Q: How can I be certain I am receiving my placenta and not someone else's?
A: There is never more than 1 placenta processed at a time, so there is absolutely NO possibility of a mix up. We also offer photography and video of the step-by-step process which shows that you're getting your own placenta.
Q: How soon after pickup do you begin working?
A: I begin working as soon as I get your placenta, and we've arrived at my dedicated work space.
Q: When will I receive my placenta items?
A: Between 2-3 days, unless you are delivering at Seton Hospitals. They require a 72 hour hold on the placenta. The turnaround time would be by day 5-6 for Seton clients.
Q: What trainings and certifications do you possess ?
A: ServSafe Certificate of Achievement for Food Handlers
Biologix Bloodborne Pathogens Certificate of Completion
Brilliant Birth Academy Placenta Encapsulation Program Certificate of Completion
Association of Placenta Preparation Arts Bloodborne Pathogens Training for Professional Placenta Service Providers Certificate of Completion
Completed International Placenta and Postpartum Association's Placenta Encapsulation Training Course
A current ServSafe Certificate of Achievement, which is a required food safety course to ensure proper handling, sanitizing, and cross contamination prevention. I also have taken two OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens for Placenta Encapsulators. This shows that I have knowledge on safety when handling placentas and encountering blood. I do take universal safety precautions by using the appropriate EPA registered hospital cleaners to ensure the health and safety of every client, as well as safety for myself and my own family. I am happy to present my certificates during prenatal meetings. I do not post personal information on the web for personal and safety reasons.
Q: Where will my placenta be prepared?
A: If you prefer to have your placenta encapsulated at your home, I will be happy to do so. The smell or thought the smell of the placenta heating as it dries, sounds of the dehydrator and processor, EPA registered hospital cleaners + bleach being used may not sound appealing for a few days in your home after the birth. This is why many families choose to have their placenta encapsulated away from home at my dedicated work space. This is a location where there are no pets, or children, or food to contaminate the area.
Q: Do you have disposable equipment or reusable?
A: Many of my items such as gloves, cutting boards, parchment paper, chux pads, paper towels, bags, and scissors are all disposable. What is not disposable is thoroughly sanitized for the health and safety of everyone.
Q: I live outside of Bell and Coryell counties, will you still encapsulate my placenta?
A: Yes. However, there is a one time only $25 -$50 fee to cover travel outside of my general service area (50 miles). This is in addition to the cost of whichever service(s) you have chosen, unless we have discussed otherwise for a payment arrangement.
Q: Do you take payment arrangements, offer discounts, or barter/trade for services?
A: Yes ! We have always taken payment arrangements, offer discounts, and barter/trade for services. Making encapsulation possible for those who otherwise would not be able to afford it but truly want this professional service is something we are committed to.
Q: How do you take payments?
A: Cash, check, money order, Paypal (Please send payments on Paypal to [email protected]), Cash App, and Venmo. Upon receipt of your completed client forms, and after discussing your requested services either by phone, facebook call, or in person meeting to ensure the service(s) you have selected will be right for you, I will send you an invoice.
Q: What will happen if you are unavailable or out of town during my birth?
A: There is a backup specialist available for this specific purpose. Ensuring seamless, dependable, professional services.
